OAK FUNCTION ROOM
The back function room at the Royal Oak is available for parties of 30+ to hire 7 days a week, and boasts a fully equipped bar with friendly staff to ensure your guests are served quickly and easily.
The room is perfect for parties between 30-60 people with changes being made to the seating arrangements to accommodate larger numbers. We have had many parties invite 80-100+ guests knowing that many will be happy to spill out into the shared garden area which is covered and has heat lamps for cooler nights.
Sunday to Thursday the room can be hired for the whole evening until closing time.
Unfortunately we cannot privately hire the back room of The Oak for the entirety of Friday or Saturday nights for the whole night, due to the busyness of the garden which requires the use of the back bar. We can offer the room to private parties anytime from 12noon to 9pm but from 9pm onwards unfortunately we do have to make the room available to the public.
This does not mean your guests have to vacate the room at this time, but it does mean that other customers are able to come into the room and order at the bar or sit at any free tables.
Although under-18's are welcome to attend a private function they are restricted to the function room and toilets only as The Royal Oak is licensed as an over-18's venue, but the function room itself can be designated as a private area.
If the room gets a little hot or busy it is often desirable for kids to want to play outside.
Unfortunately to meet our licensing conditions and keep everybody safe we cannot allow this, which can upset guests if they unaware of this in advance.
We do not want to put people off booking the room but we always prefer to be honest at the start as the room is probably not a suitable venue if there were more than five under-18's likely to attend, as it may be hard for you to make all guests aware of this rule and avoid any disappointment or inconvenience on the day.
We would ask that all persons aged under 18 vacate the premises by 8pm. We operate a Challenge 25 Policy, please ask anyone who is lucky enough to look under 25 years old to bring ID. We will not serve anyone that cannot show proof of age.
Any catering for your event must be provided by us.
We offer a popular 'one size fits all' Pulled Batch buffet which can easily be adapted for vegetarian, vegan or gluten free dietary requirements. For daytime bookings we offer an Afternoon Tea buffet, with add-on packages available.
You do not have to cater for the whole of your party, but our buffets are for a minimum of 30 guests.

Allergy / dietary requirements can be met but need to be communicated to us in advance. Vegetarian, vegan & gluten free substitutions are available on request.
If you are just after some lighter snacks, we charge £1.50pp for bowls of a good mix of crisps/nuts/table snacks, replenished through the function.
Our standard hire charge is £200 Friday - Saturday & £100 Sunday - Thursday, however this can dependent on your function date, expected number of guests, and whether you will be ordering buffet food or not.
